LG OLED TVs have always had a good reputation in the TV market. Compared with the popular LG C9 last year, the LG CX OLED TV has not changed much.
Although the LG OLED65CX has been surpassed by the newer LG C1 OLED Model, the CX is still a very worthwhile TV to buy, and is still a great choice for gamers who own a PS5 or Xbox Series X and want one of the best gaming TVs.
Appearance

The LG OLED65CX has an eye-catching appearance, with an ultra-thin body that looks more technological. Although the back part is protruding, the design is good, and the speakers and processor are placed here.
The screen is connected to a centrally mounted metal plate stand, the workmanship is exquisite, but it feels a little heavy.
The OLED65CX has four HDMI ports, all of which can handle 4K 120Hz audio and video, which is particularly important for gamers. One of the HDMI ports also supports ARC/eARC (Audio Return Channel), allowing the TV to output Dolby Atmos from streaming services or 4K Blu-ray to compatible soundbars or AV receivers.
The last design point worth mentioning is the OLED65CX's remote control, which has an index finger groove on the ergonomically designed back, making it comfortable to hold. You can quickly browse the menu list via the central scroll wheel on the remote control.

Like LG's other OLED TV product lines, the LG OLED65CX is equipped with LG's webOS interface.
LG is also a leader in voice recognition. The OLED65CX supports LG's own ThinQ AI platform, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant. Support for all of these is built-in, meaning no external listening devices are required.
In terms of supported apps, you'll find relatively recent additions to the streaming landscape such as Disney+ and Apple TV+, as well as all the usual suspects like Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime in the US. However, for UK buyers there's an unexpected snag: LG and Freeview Play haven't completed their usual deal for the Korean brand's 2020 TVs, meaning there's currently no sign of the major UK terrestrial catch-up apps such as BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 and My5.
The biggest selling point of the new webOS features is the sports category integration. Just select your favorite team in the list, and the TV will provide score updates and broadcast reminders when the team is playing.

HD/SDR Performance
OLED TVs have always been particularly well-suited to Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) technology.
The TV picture is rich and vibrant in color, the contrast is good, and the details are perfectly displayed. When displaying dark areas, the performance is good due to local dimming.
LG has also improved the 2020 upgrade. This is probably due to the introduction of LG's new third-generation Alpha 9 chipset. After the improvement, the details are clearer after enlarging the HD picture.
4K/HDR Performance
Although the OLED65CX excels with HD SDR images, its upgrade to 4K and HDR images is more significant.
First, the black levels are deeper. Compared to last year's B9, the CX combines improved black levels and shadow detail.
Compared to previous LG OLEDs, the OLED65CX also has less noise in dark areas when watching dark scenes in some streaming shows, without losing the shadow detail caused by LG's earlier attempts to fix this well-known blocking phenomenon.

The OLED65CX also improves LG's color performance. For example, enhanced brightness management helps the brightest colors in HDR images retain a more natural look, making the colors across the screen appear more consistent.
4K images also look very sharp and detailed; sharpness looks very comfortable and natural as long as you don't set the preset for vibrant scenes.

PictureMode
The OLED65CX has two new picture modes: Filmmaker Mode is launched through a collaboration between the UHD Alliance and filmmakers, aiming to reproduce on the TV the kind of settings that creators used when mastering the content. This means turning off some of the TV's image processing tools, leading some to feel that the picture is somewhat jerky and too dull to watch in a bright room. But in fact, there is not much difference.
Another image mode is Dolby Vision IQ. This is essentially a Dolby Vision mode that combines the extra HDR picture information and screen optimization elements of Dolby Vision HDR with an assessment of room conditions sensed by a built-in light sensor to ensure a more consistent picture regardless of changing viewing conditions.
For gamers, playing games using the LG OLED65CX will be smoother. In game mode, it only has a 13ms input lag. It supports automatic low latency mode switching and variable refresh rate.
Of course, as with other OLED TVs, users need to pay attention to the content they are watching to reduce the possibility of image retention. Avoid watching content with bright logos or static bright image elements for too long.

Sound
The LG OLED65CX supports Dolby Atmos, and the sound quality is indeed good. It is worth mentioning that the LG OLED65CX has an AI Sound Pro option. This mode can optimize the sound based on the capabilities of the TV speakers, resulting in a more dynamic and loud sound.
It somehow manages to transcend its incredibly slim profile: the soundstage produced has real width and even some height, especially if you forgo the default Dolby Atmos sound setting and opt for LG's excellent AI Sound Pro option. This mode optimizes the sound based on the capabilities of the TV's speakers, resulting in a more dynamic, louder, and impactful sound.
Summary
The LG OLED65CX is an excellent TV, with a fine display for movie lovers and gamers. The colors are rich. In terms of gaming, the improvement in picture technology in game mode is deeply loved by gamers. Therefore, no matter what the needs are, the LG OLED65CX has an irresistible appeal.
