A detailed introduction to OLED screens
2022-07-10
Screens are intimately related to our daily lives, from small television screens to large mobile phone screens. We need screens to perceive vivid and colorful content. The better the display effect of the screen, the higher the degree of content restoration, and the more comfortable we feel when looking at it. Currently common screen materials include TFT, LED, OLED screens, and AMOLED. Today we introduce OLED screens.
OLED screen is the abbreviation for Organic Light Emitting Diode. Now organic light emitting diode technology has matured, especially in mobile phone screens. The manufacturing materials of organic light emitting diodes consist of organic coatings and glass substrates. These materials are the main body of organic light emitting diode light emission. As long as the current passes through them, they will emit light. Different organic layers can emit different colors, so they can meet the needs of displaying multiple colors.
The characteristics of OLED screens are that they do not require backlight support, they emit light when powered on, have a wide viewing angle, high contrast, low power consumption, fast response, wide color gamut, and simple manufacturing process. It can be said that OLED screens are a novel screen material on the market, and most high-configuration mobile phones also use this material. On the other hand, LCD is different. It requires backlight support, and generates polarization effects through two layers of glass, substrates, optical films, alignment films, and color filters. The brightness and color will have some deviations. Compared with other display materials, OLED screens have many advantages. Because it does not require a backlight, the thickness of the organic light emitting diode display can be made very thin. Moreover, the organic light emitting diode display has the advantages of wide viewing angle, fast response, and obvious contrast. It can adapt to various temperatures and can be used in the field of curved screens.
OLED screens can be divided into AMOLED and PMOLED, namely active organic light emitting diodes and passive organic light emitting diodes. The main manufacturer of active organic light emitting diodes is Samsung Electronics. Samsung can mass-produce active organic light emitting diodes, but the production capacity is still insufficient. Active organic light emitting diodes are mainly used for mobile phone screens, and Samsung's active organic light emitting diodes are basically used for Samsung mobile phones. Active organic light emitting diodes have the advantages of long life, large product size, and power saving, but also have the disadvantage of complex manufacturing process. The advantage of passive organic light emitting diodes is that the manufacturing process is relatively simple, but it cannot be scaled up because it will affect the service life, and the power consumption is also large.
Nowadays, OLED screen technology has become very mature, and its presence can be seen in many fields. In the financial industry, many bank ATMs and POS machines we use daily have widely used OLED screens. In the office field, many large copiers also use OLED screens for black and white monochrome screens. In the digital industry, OLED screens are widely used. Organic light emitting diodes can be found in desktop computers, business computers, laptops, digital camera screens, Mobile screens, portable game device screens, Mobile screens, and audio-visual digital displays. In high-precision instruments, OLED screens are used for flight instrument panels and industrial electronic instrument panels.
